SCS Jewelers – How to Manage Multiple Supplier Parcels When Creating a Single Jewelry Order
Jewelers frequently receive multiple parcels of diamonds from different suppliers, often across several invoices each week. When these stones are all intended for a single jewelry order, such as a batch of 200 rings or 500 bracelets, it is important to combine these parcels correctly in iTraceiT to maintain clear traceability and prepare for certification.
In the SCS certification process, the Merge function allows you to consolidate stones coming from different supplier parcels into one master parcel. This master parcel represents all diamonds that will be used to produce your jewelry order and preserves the detailed origin information of each source parcel.
Using a master parcel helps you avoid handling dozens of separate QR codes for one order. It keeps the workflow clear, ensures transparency, and prepares the data for splitting into individual jewelry units.
This article explains why you need to merge parcels and how this supports your production and certification workflow.
Why Jewelers Need to Merge Parcels
When producing a single jewelry order, you may receive stones from multiple suppliers, each with its own QR code. Without merging, you would need to manage and certify each parcel separately, which quickly becomes complicated and time-consuming.
By creating a master parcel through merging, you can:
- Consolidate all diamonds intended for one jewelry order
- Maintain a single point of reference to represent the full diamond inventory
- Keep the original supplier origins as part of the master parcel’s composition
- Prepare a clean and structured input for jewelry production
- Avoid losing track of which stones are going into which order
This method is especially helpful when dealing with high weekly volumes or orders involving many suppliers.

This guide explains how to download the merge template, fill in the required fields, and upload your merge file in iTraceiT.
Once the merge is completed, you will have one consolidated master parcel ready for jewelry production.
Next Step: Split the Master Parcel into Jewelry Units
After creating your master parcel, the next step is to split it into individual jewelry units. Each split parcel represents one finished jewelry piece, such as a bracelet, ring, or pendant, and will receive its own QR code.
- Step 1: Log in to iTraceiT and click on Tools.

- Step 2: Select Import Parcels.

- Step 3: Click on Import Guide. A pop-up window will open.

- Step 4: Click Download to get the official Excel template for splitting parcels.

- Step 5: Open the template and fill in the required columns:
-
Action: enter
IU(Insert Update) -
Parcel Reference: unique reference for each new child parcel
-
Mother Stone ID: the QR ID of the parent parcel
-
Weight (ct): weight of the child parcel
-
Number of Stones: number of stones in the child parcel
-
Grading Lab Code (if applicable): e.g., IGI
-
Shape Code: e.g., round, pear, emerald
-
- For each additional child, add a new line in the Excel file with its specific Parcel Reference ID, Mother Stone ID, weight, number of stones, and extra fields.

- Step 6: Save your Excel file once all required information has been entered.
- Step 7: Return to the Import Parcels screen. Drag and drop the file or click Select Files to upload it.

- Step 8: Click Upload.

- Step 9: The system will automatically check your file for errors. If there are no errors, click Complete. The system will generate and register the new child parcels with their own QR codes.

This ensures every piece can be certified and exported with complete traceability and verified origin data.
Merging supplier parcels into a master parcel allows jewelers to work efficiently when multiple suppliers contribute to the same jewelry order. It simplifies production planning, keeps all origins transparent, and prepares the data for creating individual jewelry units.
By using the Merge workflow consistently, you ensure that large or complex orders remain organized, auditable, and fully compliant with SCS certification requirements.
