Understanding the General Flow of iTraceiT

iTraceiT provides a secure, transparent, and regulation-ready system that allows businesses to trace products throughout their lifecycle, ensuring data integrity and accountability at every step.

The iTraceiT process follows a clear, structured workflow composed of four main stages, each designed to ensure full visibility and traceability across the supply chain.

The general flow can be simplified as follows :

1. Create QR Code (s)

The first step is to create the QR code, which is the starting point of any traceability journey.  You can create QR codes in different ways, depending on your workflow:

  • You can create them manually, one by one, directly from the homepage using the “Create a QR Code” button.
  • If you received a QR code from another actor in the supply chain who is a member of our community, you can import that QR code directly from the homepage and continue the traceability from your side.
  • You can also upload multiple parcels at once using an Excel file through the “Import Parcels” option in the Tools tab.
  • In addition, QR codes can be created automatically through an integration with your stock management system, whether it is an internal in house solution, an ERP, or one of our technology partners.

In this case, the two systems communicate seamlessly, and everything you do in your stock management system is reflected inside iTraceiT.Everything that can be done in our portal can also be done through our integration and automation API.

Each QR code becomes the digital identity of your parcel, stone, or product and allows you to begin tracking it safely inside iTraceiT.

2. Add and Record Product Data

Once your QR code is created, the second step is to add information to it.  These data build the story of your product. You can include details such as reference, weight, number of stones, country of origin, mining company, mine, and additional documents like laboratory reports, invoices, pictures, videos, waybills, etc.  Each piece of data strengthens the credibility and traceability of your product.

You can upload any type of document, regardless of its size.

3. Split, Merge, or Group QR Codes

Depending on your operations, you may need to split, merge, or group QR codes.

Here are simple examples based on the diamond sector to make the logic clearer:

  • Split a parcel into smaller portions. For example, if you have a 100 carat parcel and want to divide it into several parts such as 10 carats, 20 carats, and so on.
  • Merge several parcels into a single one. This happens when you combine parcels that come from different origins, such as Angola and Botswana, to create one new mixed parcel.
  • Group multiple QR codes together. This is useful when several individual stones or parcels are related to each other and need to be linked without mixing them.

These actions help ensure that your digital traceability reflects what actually happens in your physical operations.

4. Publish and Share via Blockchain

The final step includes two essential actions that complete your traceability flow.

  • First, you publish your QR code on the blockchain. Publishing secures your data by creating an immutable record that cannot be altered.
  • Once your QR code is published, you can share it depending on your objective.
You may share the QR code with the next actor in your supply chain so they can import it, which will generate a new QR code at their level, and they will continue the journey.

Or you may share it with someone outside the traceability chain simply for viewing purposes, such as during a tender, a trade fair, or a showroom presentation. In this case, they can scan the QR code and access a read only landing page to verify the product information.

This structured flow enables a seamless exchange of verified information between all supply chain actors. Each participant, from producer to retailer, can access a single, trusted source of truth. By combining QR-based product identity, blockchain-backed records, and secure data management, iTraceiT ensures traceability, transparency, and compliance with global regulations. Through this four-step process, iTraceiT transforms complex supply chains into transparent ecosystems built on trust, authenticity, and accountability.
