Understanding Discrepancies in Percentage Calculations for Parcels

In iTraceiT, percentage calculations are designed to reflect real-time data. However, you may notice differences between the percentages displayed in previously generated PDF reports and those currently shown in the iTraceiT interface

This can raise concerns about accuracy, but these variations occur due to the way the system dynamically updates calculations when parcel data changes.

This article explains why these discrepancies happen and provides the only available solution to ensure accuracy.

Why Are the Percentages Different?

The percentage values in iTraceiT are dynamic, meaning they are recalculated whenever changes occur in the parcel data. These changes can include:

  • Parcel deletions or modifications, which automatically trigger recalculations.
  • Blockchain finalization, where parcels become immutable once they are sent to the blockchain.
  • Processing delays before blockchain submission, which allow corrections in case of human errors or customer requests.
  • Etc.

Because of these factors, the percentages displayed in a previously generated PDF may no longer match those currently shown in the system.

Solution

Since past calculations cannot be retrieved, the only available solution is to:

  1. Identify parcels that have not yet been imported by other iTraceiT customers.
  2. Recall the affected QR Codes.
  3. Recalculate the percentages based on the current system data.
  4. Re-export the QR Codes with the updated values.

Important Considerations

  • Any previously generated PDF reports will no longer be valid.
  • The newly calculated percentages will serve as the updated reference.
  • If you believe the original PDF values are correct, you will need to provide evidence that those calculations were accurate and that the current system values are incorrect before proceeding.

Discrepancies in percentage values occur because iTraceiT dynamically recalculates data when modifications are made. While this ensures accuracy, it also means that historical reports may not always align with the latest system calculations. If adjustments are needed, the best course of action is to recall and recalculate QR codes that have not yet been imported by other iTraceiT customers.
