SCS Producers – How to Create QR Codes

In the SCS certification process, every parcel must be represented by a unique QR Code. This QR Code is more than just a label. It is the digital twin of your parcel. It contains all key information such as reference, weight, documents, and certificates.

In iTraceiT, the system offers two ways to create a QR Code. You can create QR Codes manually one by one. You can also create them in bulk by importing an Excel file with several parcels at once. Both options ensure full traceability on the blockchain and prepare your parcels for SCS validation and certification.

Manual Creation – One Parcel at a Time

Creating a QR Code manually means you enter information for one parcel at a time. This option is useful when you only need to register a few parcels and want full control of the details.

  • Step 1: Log in to iTraceiT and go to the "Home"page
  • Step 2: Click on Create QR Code. A pop-up window will appear with four sections

Parcel Details: Fill in the required fields such as Reference, Weight, Production Date, Machine ID, and any mandatory SCS fields. Once complete, click Create and Next.

    Click on "Yes"

    Documents:
Add supporting documents if needed. You can click + to upload new files, or select from the gallery of existing documents in the platform. Once done, click Upload and Next

Extra Fields: Add extra attributes. Use the dropdown arrow to select the field name (for example clarity or color), enter the value (for example VVS or DEF), then click Add New. Repeat this action until all required extra fields are added. Then click Upload and Next.

Destination: Leave the default option set to iTraceiT landing page. No changes are needed here

  • Step 3: Once all four sections are completed, click Save.

The system will generate a new QR Code and store it in your database.

Bulk Creation – Multiple Parcels at Once

  • Step 1: Go to "Tools"

  • Step 2: Select "Import Parcels"

  • Step 3: Click on Import Guide. A pop-up window will open

  • Step 4: Click on "Download "to get the official Excel template for creating QR Codes

  • Step 5: Open the template and fill in the required columns
    • Parcel Reference: Enter your internal parcel reference number

    • Weight (Ct): Enter the core weight of the stone

    • Country : Enter the country where the stone was produced

    • SCS_weight_mother_total_grown : Enter the full grown weight of the mother stone

    • SCS_production_date: Enter the date the stone was grown

    • SCS_machine_id_mother: Enter the internal machine identifier used for production

Each line in the Excel file represents one parcel. A unique QR Code will be generated for every line you complete.

  • Step 6: Save your Excel file once all required information has been entered

  • Step 7: Return to the iTraceiT interface. In the Import Parcels screen, drag-and-drop the file or click Select Files to upload it
  • Step 7: Click on  "Upload"

  • Step 8: The system will automatically check your file for errors. If there are no errors, click on Complete. The system will generate and register the QR Codes in your database.

Creating a QR Code in iTraceiT is the first and most critical step in the SCS certification process. It secures your parcels, ensures they are traceable, and prepares them for validation. The system gives you flexibility. You can create QR Codes one by one for smaller volumes, or generate entire batches through bulk import. By using these two options effectively, you save time, reduce errors, and guarantee transparency across the supply chain.
