SCS Certified Handlers, Cutters & Polishers – How to Split QR Codes
In iTraceiT, splitting QR Codes means dividing one existing parcel into multiple new parcels. This process is typically used by Cutters and Polishers when a rough stone is cut into polished stones, or when a parcel needs to be separated into smaller units.
Splitting allows you to record the exact breakdown of a parent parcel while maintaining full traceability. Each new parcel receives its own QR code, but remains digitally linked to the original source. This ensures transparency and compliance with SCS standards throughout the supply chain.
This article explains how to perform a split using the official Excel template available in the system.
- Step 1: Log in to iTraceiT and click on Tools.

- Step 2: Select Import Parcels.

- Step 3: Click on Import Guide. A pop-up window will open.

- Step 4: Click Download to get the official Excel template for splitting parcels.

- Step 5: Open the template and fill in the required columns:
-
Action: enter
IU(Insert Update) -
Parcel Reference: unique reference for each new child parcel
-
Mother Stone ID: the QR ID of the parent parcel
-
Weight (ct): weight of the child parcel
-
Number of Stones: number of stones in the child parcel
-
Grading Lab Code (if applicable): e.g., IGI
-
Shape Code: e.g., round, pear, emerald
-
- For each additional child, add a new line in the Excel file with its specific Parcel Reference ID, Mother Stone ID, weight, number of stones, and extra fields.

- Step 6: Save your Excel file once all required information has been entered.
- Step 7: Return to the Import Parcels screen. Drag and drop the file or click Select Files to upload it.

- Step 8: Click Upload.

- Step 9: The system will automatically check your file for errors. If there are no errors, click Complete. The system will generate and register the new child parcels with their own QR codes.

Splitting QR Codes helps you manage production with precision while maintaining full traceability and certification alignment. Each child parcel remains linked to its parent, ensuring that the entire transformation process from the original rough parcel to the finished stones is transparent and verifiable. By using the split functionality, you reinforce the accuracy of your traceability data and demonstrate operational discipline within the SCS-certified supply chain.
