Starting as a Producer (Creating Your First QR codes)
As a producer, you are the foundation of the traceability chain. Your role is to establish the first digital records that define your product’s identity, origin and authenticity. iTraceiT makes this process straightforward by allowing you to create items, generate QR codes and begin traceability from the very first step of production.
Every product or batch you register in iTraceiT becomes the starting point of a transparent and verifiable chain. The information you provide will be used and trusted by manufacturers, traders and retailers later in the process. Creating accurate data at this stage ensures that the entire chain remains consistent and reliable.
Understanding Your Role as a Producer
Producers are responsible for giving each item its digital identity. This means recording factual information about where and how it was produced, and attaching supporting documents that confirm its authenticity. In iTraceiT, this identity is represented by a unique QR code that serves as the product’s fingerprint. Once created, this code follows the product through every transformation and transaction.
Your main objective is to make sure every item or batch you register carries complete and verifiable information that others can build on with confidence.

Publishing Your Data to the Blockchain
When all details are complete, you can publish your data to the blockchain. This action secures your record permanently and proves that the information has not been modified. Publishing also provides an official timestamp showing when and by whom the data was created.
Once on the blockchain, your product information becomes part of a shared, immutable record that other participants can rely on. It protects your credibility as a producer and guarantees that the product’s digital identity remains trustworthy.
Moving Forward in the Traceability Chain
After your QR codes are created and published, your role in the traceability process is complete for this stage. The next participants, manufacturers, traders and retailers, will use your data as the foundation for their own updates, adding new information as the product evolves while keeping your original record intact.
By starting the process with precise and verified data, you ensure that every future step in the chain builds on a strong, transparent base.
As a producer, creating accurate records and secure QR codes is the first and most decisive step in establishing a trustworthy traceability chain that supports transparency, compliance and confidence across the entire supply network.
