SCS Manufacturers – Mandatory for Manufacturing Stage
When importing parcels in iTraceiT, manufacturers must provide specific information to ensure that polished stones and melee parcels remain traceable and eligible for SCS certification.
Important: This article applies only to clients under SCS Global Services. If you are not an SCS certified Producer, Manufacturer, or Jeweler, this content does not apply to your workflow.
Manufacturers have a defined set of mandatory fields required to correctly identify parcels and describe the manufacturing stage, while other fields are optional and can be used to enrich internal tracking.
This article explains which fields are mandatory and which are optional for manufacturers, and clarifies how this information is later used for certification and by downstream actors in the supply chain.
Correctly completing the required fields at the manufacturer stage is essential to avoid import errors and to ensure that parcels can move smoothly through the SCS certification process.
Manufacturer Profile
Manufacturers are responsible for transforming material coming from producers or legacy stock into polished stones or melee parcels. The information entered at this stage builds on upstream data and prepares parcels for certification and eventual use by jewelers.
Manufacturers may work with parcels that were already digitally created upstream, as well as legacy inventory that was never recorded in iTraceiT. In both cases, accurate manufacturer data is required.
Mandatory fields for import
Manufacturers must complete all fields required to identify the parcel and describe the manufacturing outcome. These fields are mandatory to create a valid polished or melee parcel in iTraceiT and cannot be left empty.
The mandatory fields for manufacturers are:
- parcel reference
- weight
- scs_grading_lab_code
- Grading lab report ID
- scs_shape_code
- Stones No.
- And all the fields of the growing stage
These fields ensure that the parcel can be uniquely identified, quantified and correctly classified for traceability and certification/validation purposes.
Certification requirements
At the manufacturer level, parcels may be submitted for SCS certification once all required information is complete. While not all certification related fields are mandatory at import stage, all mandatory manufacturer fields must be accurate to allow certification to proceed.
If mandatory information is missing or inconsistent, certification requests will be rejected until the data is corrected.
For manufacturers, mandatory fields focus on identifying polished or melee parcels and documenting the manufacturing outcome. Completing the mandatory fields correctly ensures that parcels remain traceable, certifiable and ready to be used by jewelers in SCS certified jewelry.
