SCS Jewelers – How to Split a Merged QR Code into Individual Jewelry Units

After creating a merged QR code that represents all the stones intended for a specific jewelry order, the next step is to divide this merged parcel into individual jewelry units. Each unit, such as one bracelet, ring, pendant, or earring, must receive its own QR code. This ensures that every finished piece can be certified, exported, and tracked independently.

The Split function in iTraceiT allows you to generate individual child parcels from one parent parcel. Each child parcel inherits the complete traceability information from the parent, including origin percentages and supplier breakdown. This guarantees full transparency and compliance with SCS requirements for responsible sourcing.

This article explains how to use the Jewelry Split Template step by step to create individual jewelry units from a merged parcel.

Create One Jewelry Unit per Child QR Code

  • Step 1: Log in to iTraceiT and click on Tools.

  • Step 2: Select Import Parcels.

  • Step 3: Click on Import Guide. A pop-up window will open.

  • Step 4: Click Download to get the official Excel template for splitting parcels.

  • Step 5: Open the template and fill in the required columns:
    • Action: enter IU (Insert Update)

    • Parcel Reference: unique reference for each new child parcel

    • Mother Stone ID: the QR ID of the parent parcel

    • Weight (ct): weight of the child parcel

    • Number of Stones: number of stones in the child parcel

    • Grading Lab Code (if applicable): e.g., IGI

    • Grading Report ID
    • Shape Code: e.g., round, pear, emerald

  • For each additional child, add a new line in the Excel file with its specific Parcel Reference ID, Mother Stone ID, weight, number of stones, and extra fields.

  • Step 6: Save your Excel file once all required information has been entered.

  • Step 7: Return to the Import Parcels screen. Drag and drop the file or click Select Files to upload it.

  • Step 8: Click Upload.

  • Step 9: The system will automatically check your file for errors. If there are no errors, click Complete. The system will generate and register the new child parcels with their own QR codes.

iTraceiT will now create one new child QR code per line in your Excel file.
Each child parcel:

  • Inherits the full traceability data of the parent merged parcel
  • Retains all origin percentages and supplier contributions
  • Becomes an individual jewelry unit ready for SCS certification

Your jewelry order is now represented by clean, individual QR codes, each corresponding to one finished piece.

How the split preserves full traceability

Every child QR code created from the merged parcel carries:

  • The exact origin percentages of the merged parent
  • The detailed supplier breakdown
  • All required traceability information for SCS certification
  • A unique identity for certification and blockchain export

This means that even if dozens of parcels from several suppliers were merged into one master parcel, every final jewelry piece can be traced back with full accuracy.

Splitting a merged parcel allows you to convert a single combined QR code into multiple finished jewelry units, each with its own traceable identity. By using the Jewelry Split Template, you ensure that each child parcel receives the correct information, inherits all traceability from the parent, and is ready for SCS certification.
